You see me in the street, don't look away, I've got an awful lot to say,
I'm the homeless person you never see, all I want is some company,
A safe place to lay my head at night, a meal to make my tummy feel right

I need a shower and a place to clean my clothes, a job to earn some of those
Some call me lazy, but they have no clue, I used to have a home like you,
With a nice down pillow, a big fluffy bed, then things went really wrong instead,
I used to work at a grocery store, until they didn't need me any more,
Couldn't work I lost my place I called home, now I wander the streets alone,
If the shelters aren't full I've got a place to stay, I never intended things to go this way,

I'd like my kids to have their very own bed, soft white pillows to rest their heads,
Food on the table, a door to close, am I asking way too much I suppose?
You walk right by me like you don't care, you walk right by me like I'm not there
Please open your hearts and lend me a hand, please take the time to understand

We need to help the ones who are down, the children who don't even make a sound,
Let's find them their place to be, let's help them fit into society,
Bring an extra lunch when you go to school, try and break that golden rule,
Look next to you, don't look away, see if there's something you can do or say,
